In an October 13 posting we discussed an energy reader designed for use in a major new State of California environmental education program that will reach millions of students in grades K-12. The reader (titled "The Energy Source Buffet") downplays the impacts of burning fossil fuels and doesn’t address climate change. We talked with and received an official response from California EPA officials, which we are posting here for consideration. We are continuing to look into the California program and will be posting responses to specific points that are raised in the letter. Our main concerns haven't changed. We hope to continue this dialogue and to hear more from educators and others close to this issue in California.
